Why make an Islamic Will?

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “It is not permissible for any Muslim who has something to will to stay for two nights without having his last will and testament written and kept ready with him.” (Bukhari).

As a Muslim, you must distribute your wealth after you die according to the sharia (Islamic law).

If you live in the UK, then having a Will is a must. This is because if you die without one, your assets will be distributed according to domestic law, not Islamic law.

You need to have a Will that complies with both English law and Islamic law in order for it to be both valid in the UK and in accordance with Islam.

Your family need to be able to find all of your assets- one of the mainstream Will writers has stated that, on average, £9,700 is lost in undiscovered assets where a Will is not made. To tackle this, IFG Wills includes a ledger of your assets so you don’t have to disclose that information during your lifetime. Just input what you are comfortable providing and, so long as you’re confident all your assets can be found by your executors based on what you list, the record of your assets will serve its purpose.

The online form is designed to take just 20 minutes and the average time for completion reflects this. If you’re stuck on some details, you can submit the form without it and provide it later.
